Article Linker

During the Summer 2005, the Eden-Webster Library System began implementation of the Article Linker service. If you have questions while using Article Linker or the Emeron Library's Passports web site, please contact the Emerson Library Reference Department at (314) 968-6950 (toll-free 800-985-4279). In addition, Eden students may contact the Library Director (314) 252-3132 or the Circulation Supervisor (314) 252-3134 at the Luhr Library at Eden for assistance with Article Linker. Webster/Eden students, faculty, and staff may also use our Ask a Librarian email service.

Article Linker is a commercial product which helps link the user to the full-text of articles or other resources available from the Eden-Webster Library System. When doing a search and viewing your results in many of our databases, you may see either the Article Linker graphic or a text link to Article Linker. Here is an example from a search done in the Academic Search Premier database:

Clicking on Article Linker will take you to a page which indicates that this particular article is available two ways: electronically in an online database called PsycARTICLES and in paper at the Webster University (Emerson) Library.

Clicking the "Article" link will take you to this specific article in the PsycARTICLES database as shown below:

Please note the following limitations of Article Linker:

  1. Some journals may not be owned by the Eden-Webster Library System at all either in paper or electronic formats. Eden/Webster students, faculty, and staff may order copies of articles by using:

  2. Some articles may be in journals only available in paper at the Webster and Eden libraries. Webster faculty, staff, and students at extended campuses outside the St. Louis area or in online degree programs may order copies of articles by using our Document Delivery Service.

  3. Article Linker may only be able to link you to the main search screen of a database, not to the individual article. You would need to then search for the specific article you need in the database itself.

  4. Article Linker is relatively new technology whose effectiveness depends on its ability to communicate seamlessly with individual databases. Results can be inconsistent.
